A practical BaziDiary guide to birth details, life events, evidence-based comparisons within the app, and exporting or restoring local backups.
1. Enter your birth details
Open Birth chart and enter your birth date, time, birthplace and the UTC offset that applied at birth. Choose Gregorian or Chinese lunar dates; mark a lunar leap month separately. A place name does not automatically resolve historical daylight saving.
If the time is unknown, select Birth time unknown. The app omits the hour pillar and precise time-dependent cycle details rather than treating an estimated time as certain.
2. Record experiences with the right date precision
In Life events, enter a title, life area, feeling and impact. Select an exact day, month only or year only, depending on what you remember. You do not need to invent a date.
An exact-day record primarily uses the day stem and branch; a month-only record uses the month pillar; a year-only record uses the year pillar. Longer luck periods are shown separately as context.
If work went well but you felt unwell on the same day, use separate work and wellbeing entries with their own outcomes. English and Chinese notes are supported, but the app does not automatically interpret the full journal text.
3. Understand the character assessments
The overall view combines life areas; individual areas preserve their differences. Open Evidence / optional correction for a character to review related entries, certain or possible associations, feelings and comparison counts.
Insufficient evidence does not mean that your entries were lost. It means that a particular character or area lacks enough valid comparisons. A stronger candidate direction requires at least 3 valid matches and 3 valid controls; smaller samples remain early observations. Entries with the same date and precision do not count as multiple independent observations.
Check dates and life areas first, then add genuine past experiences. Do not invent entries to reach a threshold. Personal corrections are optional; automatic results are used without them.
4. Explore chart relationships and the outlook
Birth chart includes a diagram of natal and period relationships. Compare combinations, clashes and other traditional stem-and-branch relationships for a selected date. A relationship alone does not establish a favourable outcome or automatic transformation into another element.
Future outlook offers daily, monthly and annual views. Interpretations combine current assessments with traditional period rules and supporting information. Save an analysis and record the actual outcome later; saved conclusions do not change when you add new events.
These interpretations support cultural exploration and reflection. They cannot guarantee future events and do not replace medical or financial judgement.
5. Back up and move between devices
Open Local records and choose Export all records. Keep the JSON file somewhere private. The recorded export time means a download was requested; check that the file was actually saved.
On another device, open the same website and import the JSON file through Local records. Review its contents before choosing merge or replace. Export current records before replacing them.
BaziDiary is free and needs no account. Personal records remain in this browser without automatic device syncing. Clearing site data or private browsing may cause records to be lost. Online feedback sends what you submit in the feedback form, not your personal journal.
